For Terry's turn for a crochet project I decided to make him a crocheted version of Hobbes from the Calvin and Hobbes comic strip. Terry loved that comic so much when he was growing up. About 2 years ago, he sent me the link to the crocheted Hobbes pattern. I bookmarked it and made sure to remember to make him when I finally learned how to crochet.
This pattern was so simple and easy to follow. I had already learned about stripes when making my Slurpee Cup bag, so there really wasn't much new to learn. Crocheting an oval for his tummy patch was sort of new though, I had crocheted 2 small ovals for the bottoms of Lalaloopsy's shoes, but nothing to the scale I had to work in for Hobbes.
The kids have discovered Adventuretime on Netflix lately and have been watching some of the episodes. My favourite character on the show is Lumpy Space Princess. She's basically a lumpy purple cloud with a star on her head and a surly attitude. And I can do a perfect impression of her. Logan thinks it's hilarious and wanted to make something for me to encourage my impressions to continue. Hence, the Lumpy Space Princess puppet made by Logan.
Hobbes has taken quite a liking to the puppet and can be seen on our high shelf playing with the puppet and waiting ready to pounce on any unsuspecting passersby.
Watch out! He'll get ya!
I think he'll be making his way over to Terry's office in order to sit in on meetings and cause general pandemonium wherever he goes. :D Lumpy Space Princess will be staying home with me so that I can perfect my impression of her and generally amuse the children.
