Well I've done it. I've gotten to the last week of the couch to 5K program and I'm still running along.
I can run for 30 minutes straight without stopping. Of course, I run extremely slow (I've been outpaced by dudes WALKING thier dogs), but whatever... I'm still running along at least 3 times a week for 30 minutes each time.
I've been using a new program on my phone called Map My Run. It tracks your route through GPS and gently reminds you when you reach each kilometre.
I can run about 3 kms in 30 minutes... so yeah... super slow...
Here is my progress for the past few weeks, with the notes I added to my phone for each workout:
July 1, 2013: Ran 3.32 km Time 35:02 Pace 10:34 min/km
Note: Well folks - I did it! I completed the couch to 5k in terms of time running by running for 30 minutes straight this morning! Now I just gotta build up my muscles some more and work on picking up the pace to actually run 5k in that time. So far I'm running only about 3k instead. Slow but steady right?
July 4, 2013: Ran 3.04 km Time 32:11 Pace 10:35 min/km
Note: stepped on several crunchy bugs and it felt good. Don't judge.
July 6, 2013: Ran 3.14 km Time 30:06 Pace 9:35 min/km
July 8, 2013: Ran 3.04 km Time 30:44 Pace 10:06 min/km
July 9, 2013: Ran 3.33 km Time 30:09 Pace 9:03 min/km
July 12, 2013: Ran 3.12 km Time 30:03 Pace 9:37 min/km
Note: Friday night run past several backyard bbq parties. brutal.
July 14, 2013: Ran 2.99 km Time 30:09 Pace 10:55 min/km
Note: Terrible. I was out paced by a guy WALKING his dog. Which is fine. I know I run slow. But did he have to turn around and make a point out of it to me? Asshole. Was feeling down the entire rest of the run.
July 15, 2013: Ran 3.03 km Time 31:00 Pace 10:15 min/km
Note: I swear if I didn't double bra it I'd be knocked out by a wayward boob during my run.
