Since I've started this couch to 5K running program, I've noticed the fashion of my fellow joggers. They all have these really cool armbands that hold their phones so that they can have their music readily available and not have to hold it in their hands the entire run.
I wanted one.
You know - you gotta look the part and maybe the rest will be easy... er something... right?
Anyway, I looked them up on the Internet to see how much these cool armbands were going for. OUCH! I don't want to pay $40 for a piece of fabric with a pouch on it.
So guess what I did? As if you didn't know already.
I made one for myself!
And it isn't the standard black either!
I have a super old phone so the store bought ones would probably not work anyway. No iPhone here.
I sewed a pouch on the bottom and an elastic on the top. This was the only way I could think of to hold the phone in place and still be able to access the headphone jack and controls for skipping the tunes as well as see the stop watch on the screen while running.
It fastens on my arm with Velcro of course. That stuff is miraculous for all sorts of projects. I always have a bunch ready for anything that I might need it for. And around this house, Velcro is much in demand all the time.
I also thought about how to bring a few bucks or a bank card with me on my run. Hence the pouch is slightly adjustable in order to fit a few things behind the phone. And I attached a hook to carry my house key as well, which is really handy because none of my running clothes have pockets.
An update on the running program if you're interested. I'm on week 7 of the program, but week 8 of me going for it. I finished the first run without intervals last night. I warmed up and then jogged for 25 minutes straight. No stopping! Oh my gosh. I still can't believe I didn't stop. Not once. I just kept listening to my music and thinking about other stuff. I promised myself that I wouldn't look at the stop watch until I listened to at least 7 songs. After 7 songs I was at 21 minutes, so I only had 4 minutes to go. Phew. Next time I'll listen to 8 songs to make sure those 4 minutes don't drag as much as they did. But I didn't stop.
I'm very proud of myself. The end goal is to be able to run for 30 minutes straight or 5K. I'm so close!
