Wednesday Weigh In: Lent

Well I'm making no progress on the weight loss this week.  There's been no change.

But today marks the first day of Lent.

I'm going big this year.

I'm giving up Slurpees.  Delicious delicious Slurpees for a whole 40 days until Easter.

The same delicious Slurpees that I drink every single day. Sometimes I drink two.

It's time to try to put a dent in my reliance on sugar.  I crave sugar like crazy. It's the same as most people do with caffeine.  Since I don't drink coffee, I start to feel shaky when I don't get a Slurpee in the morning.  By the afternoon, I'm feeling downright ill without one.

So we'll see how I do.

I have a feeling that I'll go a little crazy.  I might pull out some hair.  I might get snarky and cranky and lethargic for awhile.  Then I'll start to feel better and my reliance on sugar will go away.

Maybe I won't even need my daily Slurpee by the time the 40 days are over.  Maybe the world's sweetest and most delicious drink will turn into a treat once again.

Are you giving up anything for Lent?

Wow, that's very brave of you! What I've done to try to cut out sweets in my life, is to make a variety of healthy snack options, and you can only snack out of those choices. I've noticed that frozen grapes is an AMAZING replacement when I'm craving sweets, cuz they're sweet all on their own and they're crunchy and delicious! Good luck! :)

At the pancake dinner on Tuesday, I pledged to swear off Ice Cream. It is one of my weaknesses for sure. Lets see how we do!!
take care
