This week's challenge:
"Yea, it’s time for a fun, slightly out-there challenge.
Design a new costume for the Rockettes. It needs to be versatile enough to wear year round (i.e. not a Christmas costume). It needs to look good up close and far away. It should also look modern." (Courtesy of Just Crafty Enough)
I had a tough time with this challenge because I didn't get the benefit of going to Mood - twice.
I just don't have very much sparkly fabric in my current stash. Wha?!! I know - you would hardly expect that of me!
Anyway, here's what I came up with:
As you can see, I added the drama by using a bold print. On this scale, it looks even bolder.
Then I added the sparkly by using a decorative star and a few jewels on the ends of the large fringe.
Here's Sally doing her best Rockette's kick! Hmmm dolls aren't very flexible.
Anyway, I think it turned out OK. It'll definitely be different from everyone's. I like the way the big fringe moves. And I sewed some booty short underneath the whole thing to make sure that all her parts were covered.
It has green so it could be used in a Christmas show I guess. But she looks more like a hula girl than a Rockette. Ooooops! Oh well, maybe they'll have a summer themed show that this would be perfect for. hehehe
