Occasionally Logan gets it in his head that he needs to use my rolling pin. I have no idea where this hankering comes from, but he insists until I finally give in.
This sugar cookie recipe is simple and very child friendly. Logan gets to use both the rolling pin and the cookie cutters. Fun!
1.5 cups of sugar
1 cup butter or margarine
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2.5 cups of flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon cream of tartar
- pre-heat oven to 350 degrees C. Lightly grease cookie sheets.
- Mix the sugar, butter, egg, vanilla until creamy. Mix in the flour, baking soda and cream of tartar. Make a ball of dough. Roll it out (or have your son give it a try) until it's about 1/4 inch thick. Cut into desired shapes (or have your son make some crazy cool dinosaurs and bisons)
- bake for 8 to 10 minutes until slightly golden on the bottoms.
- put your favourite icing on them and let your kids go nuts with the sprinkles!
