Secret Mommyhood Confession Saturday #9

I blame Netflix for all my problems as a mommy this past month.

Yeah, Netflix, I'm calling you out!

My son loves to watch Netflix.

(Please don't go getting all uppity on me because I let my kids watch TV. It's sometimes my only saviour from going completely insane).

He gets to choose out of the animation section. He used to only watch Sponge Bob over and over again. So much Sponge Bob that we could actually recite most of the dialogue in every episode. Ack!

He's now broadening his horizons by watching The Cat In The Hat Knows A Lot About That!

There are only 6 episodes...

And Logan is hooked...

*grumble* *grumble* insert non-threatening threats to Netflix *grumble* *grumble*

Logan's love for the Cat In The Hat, thank goodness, has spilled over into his real life. We went to the library and borrowed the original book, plus Green Eggs and Ham.

We have dubbed his wagon, the Thingama-wagon (after the Thingamajigger on the show). We even sing the song (with slightly altered lyrics) from the show:

Go, go, go, go on an Adventure
The thingama-wagon is up and away
Go, go, go, go on an Adventure
We're flying with the mommy in jeans today!

Everyday on the way to school while I pull my Thing 1 and Thing 2 happily fighting in in the Thingama-wagon. (I'm actually thinking about decorating said wagon in true Cat In The Hat style).

Way to go Netflix! You've got me singing! Off key and raspy at 8:00 in the morning.

*grumble some more*

So we made this door wreath yesterday. Yes, it's a Cat In The Hat wreath.

I got the foamy Dr. Seuss stickers from Michaels. $16.99! ACK!.

Way to go Netflix! Now you're got me spending waay too much money.

*grumble*

And I ordered this fabric.

Logan thinks I'm going to magically turn this fabric into curtains for his room.

Way to go Netflix! Now I gotta somehow become some sort of genius sewist.

*grumble*

And we bought these hats for my Thing 1 and Thing 2.

Way to go Netflix! Cat in the Hat merchandise just puked all over our house!

*grumble*

______

Actually I really don't mind Logan's new obsession. It's nice to see him interested in BOOKS again. Yay for Dr. Seuss!

We're big Dr. Seuss fans in this house. Well, except for Mr. V. Lil Mr. V LOVES the Cat in the Hat. We watch it on PBS every chance we get, as well as on Netflix. My favorite book is Green Eggs and Ham, and my brother's favorite character is the Grinch. Actually, I'm saving up some money to buy some grinch fabric so I can my brother a lap quilt for next Christmas. :)

So you've had a period of being "off" books and now he's back? That's a relief! I thought I'd destroyed my son's love of books forever by letting him watch Pixar's Cars over and over.

Ha!! I let my son watch the classic Scooby-Doo shows. He's addicted and even says that Daphne is his girlfriend. Hey if it gives me 5 minutes to poop in privacy, I'm all for it ;)
