My sewing machine was feeling pretty neglected since I've been back. I wasn't sure how I would feel, so I planned on not sewing that much for this 6 week recovery time. But I just couldn't stay away.
I fun project was needed to ease back into it. And since I love making hats and I didn't have a spring hat, I thought this cute cloche style hat would do the trick.
I used the very last of the denim that I had in my "to be upcycled" pile. Good thing Terry went to buy new jeans this week and will hand over his broken ones to replenish the pile. Yay!
The pink flower was a pin that I got on a little shawl that I bought years ago and have already worn out. I didn't like the flower on the shawl, but I really like it on my new hat. It just goes to show that you shouldn't throw away something as pretty as a flower pin because someday you might create the perfect accompaniment for it. :)
And for your amusement (or something to laugh at), here are a few pictures I snapped a few minutes ago in my downstairs bathroom mirror.
The hat will be much cuter in the sunshine of spring. I'm sure there will be lots of photos on me in this hat this summer, so get used to it!
I see you all...
Oh right... you wanted to see the hat and not my silly mug... right...
Stay tuned for Macrame Monday tomorrow! :D
