Not Sure If I Like This Girl...

I'm not sure if I like the girl who went to her Cardiologist today and heard the following words:

"I'm going to write you a prescription."

ACK! I'm not the girl who takes medication for her heart! I haven't done that since I was a kid. And I'm certainly not the kind of girl who takes blood pressure medication!

Who is that girl? I don't think I like her. She's usually so tough and self-sufficient.

But then again...

There is some reasoning behind this latest turn of events. My cardiologist has decided to present my case to Edmonton - which will most likely get the ball rolling towards a valve replacement surgery.

So ... the blood pressure medication (at the very lowest dose) will ease the pressure on my heart and hopefully prolong the time between now and imminent valve surgery. In the meantime, new surgical techniques can be developed. My doc is even checking into these new techniques to see if I'm a candidate to have my valve replaced without cracking open my chest again :D

And the most important thing is time at this point. I want to be healthy enough to take care of these kids without a possibly lengthy recovery process throwing a wrench into my mommy plans.

If it means that my heart will stay healthy without surgery for a longer time, I guess I'll take the medication.

Hmmm... I kinda like the girl who would suck up her pride and just do it ... for these kids :)

Sorry about the new med but the longer you can put off valve replacement better.
