Team LT Reads: Chicken Fried Dexter With a Side of Pancakes

Team LT hasn't been very active with the book learnin' lately. We've been trying to raise these kids you see.

But now we've started up Sunday evening reading time. It's great so far. We both look forward to spending some time away from the TV ... sometimes...

So we're back with our lovely book reviews.

Let's get started.

#1) Pancakes, Pancakes
Author: Eric Carle
Publisher: Alladin (October 1, 1998)

Review by Logan: 4 out of 5 stars.

Mommy gets frustrated reading this book to me, but I love it! It tells me all the steps to make pancakes. And at the end, the boy Jack gets to eat the pancakes. What can be better than that?
I'm just glad I don't have to churn butter before I get to eat pancakes.

#2) Dearly Devoted Dexter
Author: Jeff Lindsay
Publisher Vintage Crime Books (2005)

Review by Terry: 4 out of 5

I've watched all the Dexter episodes so far in the series, and the book is very similar. Although it was hard not to picture the characters from the series, the book was still good enough to stand on its own legs. Not a very serious book, but a fun read nonetheless. I will read more in the series.

#3) The Fortune Cookie Chronicles
Author: Jennifer 8. Lee
Publisher: Twelve (2008)

Review by Tawny: 5 out of 5 stars

I just love this book because my grandparents owned a Chinese food restaurant and it reminded me of growing up and hanging out in the back of the restaurant. The research was fabulous - there was tons of stuff I didn't know and never took the time to figure out for myself. I'm glad someone had the inquiring mind to figure it all out. A good read!
