Project Upcycle Day 23 - Shamrock Sashays

Yesterday I asked you what I would make out of a green sweatshirt, some leftover present ribbon, some lavender scent and some reclaimed buttons. The hint was: Kiss Me I'm Irish... and I smell nice too!

St. Patty's Day is coming up and you want to be festive don't you? Let's get started on Shamrock Sashays! (Say that 5 times fast: Shamrock Sashays, Shamrock Sashays... yipes I can't even type it 5 times fast).

1) I believe that if you click on the above picture, you will be taken to the original sized one. Print and cut it out for a pattern.

2) Cut two for each shamrock out of green stuff.

3) Sew green pieces right sides together leaving a hole for stuffing. I pinned the ribbon in at this point in order to catch it when sewing around the shamrock pieces. That way you'll have something nice to hang the shamrocks with.

4) Stuff lightly with poly-fil or I just used scrap pieces of fabric that I had. This is an upcycle project after all. Don't want anything to go to waste! I also put in some dried lavender flowers (just a pinch so as not to be too overpowering).

5) Sew two button on each shamrock. I put one on each side and sewed them on simultaneously. Looks cool eh?

*** These scented Shamrock Sashays will be listed at Tawny Bee for $12. Half the proceeds from the sale ($6) will be donated to the Heart and Stroke Foundation as part of my Upcycle for Heart 2010 campaign.****

Stay tuned tomorrow when I will be making something out of these two pairs of skinny pants (yeah , I'm never going to fit into them again and I should just face it kinda pants). Some quilt batting and one of those hooded baby towels that are very cute, but babies quickly grow out of.
Hint: It'll love to be stepped on.

se are nice but the only problem is that shamrocks only have THREE leaves not 4. WHat you have is a 4 leaf clover.
Irish gal!

Oooh good to know! I totally did not know that. But I still like trying to say Shamrock Sashays over and over again, so I'm keeping the name. I'll put a note in the Etsy listing though that they are 4 Leaf Clovers.

For anyone making them, they can always cut out one of the leaves for an authentic Shamrock hehee.
