We've taken the plunge into Real Estate!
As you may have seen in the previous Father's Day post, I let it slip that Team T-Lo has a new house. It all happened so fast. We got the email that the house was up for sale on Wednesday
June 10th. We hummed and hawed about seeing it, but decided it couldn't hurt even though it was priced at the very top line of what we could afford. On Friday June 12th we went to see it. It was just right for our little family, so our Real Estate agent suggested we throw our hat into the ring even though we couldn't go above asking price.
Well it turns out that the seller's agent wasn't too keen on trying to push a sale and only a few people saw the property. He was taking offers on Monday June 14th and the seller's were eager to get out of there. It was an estate sale, so the house was empty when we saw it. So, on Monday evening our agent came over and said that there had been no offers on the property yet and that we should bid $10,000 lower. Of course, we thought this was pure madness, but what do we know about real estate anyway. We trusted Steve (our agent) to lead the way.
He called us back a few hours later and said that we were still the only offer and that the seller countered with a slightly higher price than our bid (still well below asking price). We accepted and now we have a house! And for less than we expected. We even got our condition of a house inspection met! We couldn't have asked for a better turn out.
Here is a picture of the house from our new backyard. The front and inside pictures have been emailed to the family and there are pictures on my Facebook for any friends. I don't want to put too many pictures up on this blog because it is public, so you'll have to make do with a few backyard shots.
The last few weeks have been spent at the bank and at the lawyer. Yesterday we signed the final papers and picked up the keys. The place is ours!
Now Terry is going to concentrate on moving, and I'm going to concentrate on growing this baby and hopefully moving and baby won't happen on the same day. It wasn't the best timing, but who could pass up such a great opportunity?
Now it looks like Team T-Lo is going to be moving back to Windsor Park. We love the neighbourhood and our new house is not even a block from Logan's elementary school. It's perfect. We're so excited!
Check it out - we have our own backyard for the kids to play in. We can play our music loud and wash the car in the driveway. And best of all, we're not throwing our money away by renting anymore. Here's to the good life!
Now, who's going to help us move?
