We've already introduced Logan to his "big boy" chair. Last night it was time for his "big boy" bed. We admit we did it a little earlier than we would have liked, but we also admit that we are cheap and we're not buying another crib for the new baby.
We had a guest bed, but no guest room (the bed was in the corner of Logan's room this whole time). So we decided that our little boy could have it. It's a double, so he's just drowning!
A few weekends ago, we went shopping for some nice, kid-friendly sheets and comforter. We bought the mandatory plastic sheet to go underneath a potty-training child. And we finally got around to setting it all up yesterday. Logan has been asking about it every morning for these past two weeks: "Big Boy Bed now???"
In the event of falling out of bed, which we figured might be inevitable, we took the frame off the bed and laid the box spring and the mattress on the floor for now. We put the bed in the corner, so that only two sides are open. We also put down some camping foam on the exposed side, just in case.
There's our little "big boy" last night before bedtime. He actually did better than expected. All day after we set up the bed, he was asking if it was bedtime. When the time finally arrived, he was so tired that he fell asleep downstairs! Didn't think it was a good idea to put him in his crib for the night after all the excitement, so we had to wake him up and ask him if he wanted to sleep in his new bed.
He jumped into the new bed and wiggled around to get comfortable, but wasn't so confident when mommy and daddy were going to leave the room. At first he thought mommy should stay beside him. I laid down with him for awhile and daddy sat on the chair. Then I left and daddy ended up laying with him for awhile longer until he fell asleep. We could hear that we woke up a few times during the night, but he didn't try to get up or call to us. He slept the entire night and when we woke up at his usual time (7:30) he called for us to come and get him. I guess he hasn't discovered that he can actually get up out of that bed yet! Lucky us!
